Description

ALKALINE PEPTONE WATER pH 8.5 is used as an enrichment medium for the isolation of Vibrio cholerae from stools and/or sewage; it is recommended by OMS and APHA.

The high pH of this medium (8.5) inhibits the growth of many commensal bacteria in the intestine, while it favors the development of V.cholerae.
