Description

The support contains 2 media for general use (official) and a differential medium which confirms the results of the first 2 media. Salmonella Detection Agar is a high recovery medium that exploits the ability to differentiate colonies with very different colors. The other 2 media exploit, for the isolation of Salmonella, the selectivity of bile salts or of bile compounds, howevere, these in presence of low charges decrease the yield of the medium on the recovery of the colonies.

Linearcount 3 media support contains:

• Salmonella Detection Agar (recommended for the presumptive identification of all types of Salmonella, in fact, the medium allows to distinguish other types of possibly present enterobacteriace)
• S.S. Agar (highly selective for Salmonella, while Proteus can be easily confused with some species of salmonella)
• Hektoen Enteric Agar (for the isolation and cultivation of gram-negative enteric micro-organisms and Salmonella and Shigella from a variety of clinical samples and not, based on the fermentation of sugars and production of H2S)
